In a discovery that is sure to rock the scientific world (ok, so maybe that’s not true, but it is kinda cool), scientists have found that bumblebees can estimate duration of time intervals. It had been known that many insects had daily and annual rhythms of behavior, but actually estimating shorter time intervals was once thought to be an ability reserved for humans and other vertebrates. Apparently, bees make many decisions that require the ability to tell time, including navigation and when to enjoy nectar from their favorite flowers.
