Shoot ‘Em Up delivers what it promises. If you want a non-stop action movie that manages to be funny from time to time, then fire up Fandango and buy your tickets now, because you won’t be disappointed.
However, if you’re looking for any kind of believable plot, or if you can’t stand it when facts don’t mesh well with reality, then this might not be the blockbuster for you.
Featuring Clive Owen as the gun wielding Mr. Smith, Monica Belluci as a lactating prostitute, and Paul Giamatti as a hit man with an endless army of henchmen, the acting talent is definitely present. The storyline, however, relies heavily on the gun, and not much else. If it can’t be solved by shooting at it, then it just doesn’t appear in this movie.
I liked the film, and thought that it was quite entertaining and well worth the price of admission. My reviewing partner in crime however, who I normally agree with on most movies, did not like it at all, so I guess this is going to be a love it or hate type flick.
Regardless, I say give it a shot, but just be prepared and know what to expect.
