…It’s Movie Monday: Time Lapse Design?

Time Lapse Design

Ross Allchorn from Allchorn Design created this time lapse of his design process on a fictitious blog from mind map to paper sketch to the first Fireworks design concept, and it’s an interesting (and quick!) look behind the scenes of the design process form start to finish:

…It’s Website Wednesday: Blah Girls?

Blah Girls

As if there was a need for another celebrity gossip blog, Ashton Kutcher’s Blah Girls is a high dollar attempt at picking up a few extra eyeballs from those that have grown tired of TMZ and their ubiquitous coverage of anything and everything celebrity related.

The site revolves around the three Blah Girls and their take on the celebrity world, and every Monday and Thursday a new animated video arrives with the latest “news”:

Will Blah Girls be the best thing to happen to the gossip world since the cell phone camera, or is this just another attempt at buying eyes with flashy design and a well-known name?

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Project Lore is all things World of Warcraft.

By bringing together five dudes, four cameras, and the most famous online game ever to wreck lives and take over computers, Project Lore “is all about putting the best multimedia MMORPG game guides in one place”.

Project Lore is also going to include a daily video show and a blog, and it’s led by Alex Albrecht of Diggnation fame, so you know it’s going to have a dedicated group of die-hard fans.

If you’ve ever wanted to follow the progress of a group of level 70 players who love beer and pizza and loathe Fel Orcs, then Project Lore is the site for you.

…The Big Picture shows it like it is?

The Big Picture

Apparently I’m a little late to the party on this one, but The Boston Globe’s The Big Picture is a fantastic photo blog that uses huge and beautiful pictures to tell stories that normally only get a thousand words inside of the newspaper.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check it out.

…It’s TGI Friday: Sling Ice?

Sling IceSling Ice is a fantastic Flash game that puts you in charge of a Sling or a Slingette as you chase after the Oozeville power source elements that were taken by evil monsters.

To play, just stretch your blob, aim, and release. The goal is to move from one grab peg to the next, and as you touch each peg, it turns green. After all of the grab pags have been turned green, a portal will open up and you can grab that to move to the next level.

I profiled the original Sling on DYH a long while back, and Sling Ice is the third in the series, so they’ve definitely perfected things by now, and it shows, with fantastic gameplay, a good story line, and smooth graphics.

Get ready to sling!

…People love the ampersand?

The Ampersand

The Ampersand is an entire blog dedicated to “the most attractive punctuation mark of them all”.

Apparently this scribal abbreviation is more popular than I would have thought; because people have ampersand tattoos, take photographs of ampersands, document strange ampersand uses and appearances, and more.

I guess if it exists, someone probably has a blog about it…

…Stefan Bucher drew a daily monster?

Daily Monster

Daily Monster is Stefan G. Bucher’s quest to draw one monster per day for 200 days.

Each monster starts out as an inkblot, and then Stefan adds to that blot until it starts to take on a character of its own. Then, users can submit a back-story for the monster, and Stefan picks some of the best and publishes them on his blog.

Each monster features the accompanying video where you can watch Stefan work his magic, and it’s impressive to watch each one take shape.

On May 2, Stefan drew the final monster in the series, so check out his site for a look at each one of the 200 monsters.

…It’s TGI Friday: I Heart T-Shirts?

I Heart T-Shirts

Want to win a free t-shirt? Then read on:

If you read DYH with any kind of regularity, then you’ve probably noticed that I’m a huge t-shirt fanatic. I own and wear far too many of them, but I can never get enough. I’m always on the lookout for new and unique shirts, and often when I find them, I post about them here.

However, I’ve wanted to start a separate t-shirt blog for quite some time now, so I’ve decided to do a little experiment to see if I can use Facebook to do it.

Thus, I’ve started a page on Facebook called “I Heart T-Shirts”, and I’m going to use it as a sort of mini-blog, posting about the latest t-shirt designs that I find and fall in love with.

If you’ve got a Facebook account, head on over to the page and check it out.

There, I’ve gathered up links to some of my favorite t-shirt stores, blogs and coupon codes, and I’m also going to be using the “Posted Items” area as a mini blog where I’ll share links to some of the newest and coolest designs out there.

To get this up and running though, it would be great to have people become fans of the page, which is why I’m going to be doing a giveaway on Sunday, May 11 to one random (and lucky) fan.

To enter, just go to the I Heart T-Shirts page and click “Become A Fan”. Then, on Sunday, I’ll select one fan at random from those that have signed up and I’ll send them a $25 Threadless Gift Certificate.

Since this is an experiment, I encourage you to contact me with any comments , questions or suggestions that you have about the page. Feel free to either email me here, or send me a message through the Facebook system.

Also, since Facebook is a community-based site after all, feel free to share photos, and videos of you and your favorite t-shirt designs on the page. Plus, if you can tell any of your t-shirt loving friends about the page, I would greatly appreciate it.

(Lastly, if you haven’t already, check out the DidntYouHear.com Page on Facebook!)

See you there!
