Happy Halloween everybody! Since Trick-Or-Treating isn’t for everyone, here’s a great game to play this weekend: Minesweeper Flash.
Minesweeper is the default time waster for anyone with a Windows computer and a few hours to kill, but with the addition of Flash, it’s a whole new game.
Thankfully, the gameplay itself is still the same, since it’s a classic for a reason, but with all new visuals, and as close to a storyline as Minesweeper is ever going to get (Edit: Actually, I take that back. THIS is the closest that Minesweeper is ever going to get to a storyline.), Minesweeper Flash gives the old dog new tricks, and you’ll be playing like a 16-year-old front desk clerk again in no time.
Karoshi (Japanese for “death by overwork”) Suicide Salaryman is definitely not your usual Flash game.
In this game many things are not what you’d expect and the goal of each level is counter-intuitive: you need to die.
There are 50 levels (and a boss fight at the end), and each level presents a new challenge. There will be several objects around you that you can use to get the job done, but their exact use won’t always be apparent. Plus, as the game progresses, it starts to break its own rules to keep things interesting.
Can you help your character to his ultimate demise, or will his survival signal your failure?
Booty Juggler is a fantastic Flash game that puts you in charge of Patch the Pirate Octopus, who has his many hands full protecting his ill-gotten gains.
By clicking his arms, you can make Patch juggle his booty, and the goal is to keep hold of that booty while avoiding the bombs and other items that are falling from the sky.
Can you keep it up, or will the booty be blown to smithereens?
Nitrome’s Dirk Valentine and the Fortress of Steam is a fantastic side scrolling Flash game that puts you in charge of Dirk Valentine and his chain cannon as you try to defeat Baron Battenberg and his army.
Got Milk?’s latest informational site is a fantastic looking papercraft-esque factory that cranks out milk flavors like Gladiator Formulator (for help with muscle rebuilding), Zen Again (for help with PMS), Holy Molar (for help with cavities) and Shut Eye Battle Cry (for help with sleep).
On the site, you can learn all about milk’s health benefits, find recipes, learn about the Got Milk? brand history, and more.
If nothing else though, definitely check it out for the fantastic use of Flash that makes the site so beautiful.
Sling Ice is a fantastic Flash game that puts you in charge of a Sling or a Slingette as you chase after the Oozeville power source elements that were taken by evil monsters.
To play, just stretch your blob, aim, and release. The goal is to move from one grab peg to the next, and as you touch each peg, it turns green. After all of the grab pags have been turned green, a portal will open up and you can grab that to move to the next level.
I profiled the original Sling on DYH a long while back, and Sling Ice is the third in the series, so they’ve definitely perfected things by now, and it shows, with fantastic gameplay, a good story line, and smooth graphics.
Adidas Originals are fantastic Flash games that bring sports back to the streets with events like Urban Archery (score by shooting arrows as far as possible), the 10M Dive Bomb (twist your body to make the biggest splash possible), Freestyle Hurdles (get over (or under) 10 hurdles in a 400 meter race through a construction zone) and the Shopping Cart Bob (you, a tricked-out shopping cart and a steep hill full of obstacles).
