Phu! And SBTG’s line of “Death from Above” Nikes is going to be one hot shoe release.
With the Death Seeker AF1s battling the Phantom Mirage AM90s, each side is limited to just eight individually numbered pairs, and at $500 a piece, they’re not exactly cheap, but when features include “weathered fuselage as an armor and cloaked in an urban desert storm camouflage” and “armored with metallic olive drab, battle dressed in desert storm and accented in a venomous acid green chompers”, it just might be worth it.
Available March 30th from Royalefam Shop.
(Be sure to check out Phu!’s Vinyl Is The New Canvas for some fantastic behind the scenes shots of what goes into a pair of very custom kicks.)
If you’d like to go green in style, then check out the Lakai Recycled Program.
By “applying excess shoe materials that would otherwise be thrown away to selected styles each season”, Lakai is turning trash into unique pairs of kicks that are good looking and good for the environment.
In addition to the recycled materials (leather, suede, mesh) the Recycled Program shoes will also feature soles comprised of new gum rubber mixed with regrind rubber waste, reducing new material by up to 50%.
Another benefit of the program is that each shoe will have a unique look that is the result of whatever materials they happened to have around that day, so no two pairs will share the same material and/or color combinations.
Reebok/Kool-Aid kicks aren’t exactly groundbreaking, since the shoe game is known to bring some unique partnerships together, but what is interesting is that not only do these shoes look like their respective Kool-Aid flavors, they smell like them too thanks to scented sock liners.
Run one includes cherry, strawberry and grape, and more are planned (orange, lemon and lime) if the scented shoe takes off like Reebok surely hopes it will.
Nike’s SB line of skate shoes are often some of the most creative tributes to grace your feet.
First, there’s the Nike Dunk SB “720 Degrees”. Inspired by the first skateboarding arcade game, Atari’s 720 Degrees, these kicks feature a perfect match to the game’s color scheme, and will definitely make you stand out at the next arcade competition.
Then, there’s the Nike Dunk SB “Newcastle Brown Ale”. Inspired by the delicious brown ale out of Newcastle, England, these kicks feature a hoppy style that is perfect for your next beer fest.
Regardless of your style, there’s no doubting the creativity that goes into a mash-up like this; and I commend Nike for thinking outside the box when is comes to design.
If your shoes spend more time in their boxes than they do on your feet, give them the respect they deserve with the Jason Markk Premium Sneaker Solution Kit, featuring a bottle of cleaning solution and a handcrafted woodblock brush. It’ll keep your kicks fresh for longer, and shine your shoes like you never thought possible.
Ecko Unltd’s Portrayal is definitely a unique looking pair of kicks. Featuring Rhino graffiti, a classic brown and white color combo, and a smooth leather upper, these are perfect for adding a little street to your style.
Just got a new pair of kicks, the Lakai Limited Mariano Street Pirates. I love that they’re subtle with little a bit of colorful flavor thrown in the mix, and I dig anything that comes with a skull and crossbones (crossboards) predominantly featured.. Also, I couldn’t find the right size locally, so I went through Utility Board Supply and can recommend them without doubt. Shipping was fast, customer service was excellent, and I even saved a few bucks off the local price. Sweet.
Blu Foms are custom kicks made as a collaboration between Fila and Core77. Individually numbered (there are only going to be 300 pairs) and handmade in Italy, you’re guaranteed to have a unique set of shoes. The Blu Fom “allows you to keep it real and show respect for the old-skoll, even if the last foam you touched was on a cappuccino”.
