…Apple is colorblind?

iPod Nano

Apple went iPod crazy on Tuesday, and released an updated Nano, a new Touch, a larger (and cheaper) Classic, and Shuffles in all new (for them) colors.

The tech blogs have all managed to beat this news into the ground already, so I’m not going to dive into the details, but what I am going to wonder aloud about is this: Why did it take Apple so long to release an iPod in a rainbow of colors? (Or Nano-Chromatic in Apple speak.)

While Apple was busy doling out doses of iPod five flavors at a time, ColorWare managed to make an entire business out of taking your iPod and adding color to it, and they even charge an extra fee to do so.

It’s obvious that the demand for colors has always existed, as evidenced by Apple’s decision to release their products in various (limited) colors along the way, and the mere existence of ColorWave, so why hasn’t Apple jumped on this bandwagon before?

The world may never know…

…It’s Things Thursday: corbusBOARDS?

corbusBOARDS

Those looking for a custom way to ride down the street should definitely check out corbusBOARDS.

Handcrafted and one-of-a-kind, the corbusBOARDS are made of aluminum, and are designed to be “fully functional, impressive to ride art objects”.

From the maker:

Knowing that the classic wood structure was limited I turned to aluminum streamlining the design until I came up with sleek silhouettes at around the same weight of traditional long-boards — and just as ride-able. These custom boards are a completely original cross between a long-board and a short-board for a smooth cruising ride that is also focused on independent vision and comfort. These are not trick boards, but they are tricked.

…It’s Website Wednesday: Reserve A Spot In Heaven?

Reserve A Spot In Heaven

Reserve A Spot In Heaven lets you snag a place in the space above before it’s too late. Apparently, “although a large portion of this space remains vacant, spots are filling very quickly”.

But how can you tell that RASIH is official?

Because, in their own words: “To this day we are the ONLY official distributor of reservations into Heaven. We are directly affiliated and sent down by The Board of Heavenly Officials, the only governing body in Heaven, to offer you one thing and one thing only: a worry free, secure way into Heaven.”

Still not convinced?

Worry not, because all reservations come with a 100% money back guarantee. Plus, with two packages to choose from, you can get just the right amount of heaven that you need.

Don’t think up is the direction that you’ll be heading?

They’ve got you covered there too, because you can also Reserve A Spot In Hell.

Don’t wait though, because for both places, space is definitely limited.

…Digg wants to show you the pics?

Digg Pics

When Digg added an Images category to the site, they also added a new program to their Digg Labs called Pics.

As images are submitted or Dugg, they move from the left to the right of the screen in columns by category.

Though, as with all Digg Labs products, it’s of limited use in terms of speeding up the Digg process, it does give an interesting look into the always changing, evolving, and updating world of Digg, as well as Digg trends in real time, so it’s definitely worth a look.

…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren?

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is no newcomer, but the guys from Germany have recently created a few more options for their well-intentioned (and well-heeled) buyers.

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722

If you’ve got the need for speed, the new 722 Edition takes out any of the street left in this supercar, and replaces it with pure race.

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Engine

The supercharged, hand-built 5.5-liter AMG V8 now puts out 650 horsepower, the suspension, now 10 millimeters lower, features a stiffer damper configuration, and the brakes, now larger, ensure that you can bring everything back into reality just a little bit quicker. Visual changes include a new front spoiler with air splitter, a rear diffuser, and a collection of carbon fiber for that sporty look.

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster

If the plans for your SLR don’t include daily trips to the track, but you still want something different, then drop the top on the new Roadster edition, and hit the highways in style. The roof, made of a newly developed material, is good to go at 206 mph, and lowers in just 10 seconds; perfect for an impromptu photo session with the paparazzi. Even with the top down though, Mercedes claims you can hold a conversation at 125 mph, which is great for complimenting your passenger on their newly styled, wind restyled hair.

Sidepipe exhaust, gills, propeller nose, and suave sophistication are all still standard.

…Street Pirates are sweet kicks?

Street Pirates

Just got a new pair of kicks, the Lakai Limited Mariano Street Pirates. I love that they’re subtle with little a bit of colorful flavor thrown in the mix, and I dig anything that comes with a skull and crossbones (crossboards) predominantly featured.. Also, I couldn’t find the right size locally, so I went through Utility Board Supply and can recommend them without doubt. Shipping was fast, customer service was excellent, and I even saved a few bucks off the local price. Sweet.
