…It’s Website Wednesday: Eat Drink or Die?

Eat Drink or Die

Eat Drink or Die is the third site from the creators of Funny or Die and Shred or Die, and focuses, surprisingly enough, on food.

The site works by using a rating system to pick out the quality (delicious) content, and killing the rest. The rating system breaks down as follows:

Rating System

In addition to daily shows and exclusive content, Eat Drink or Die also breaks their videos down by topic, so that you can see what’s popular in any of these channels:

It’s not just videos though, as Eat Drink or Die also features exclusive blogs that you can read between meals, such as:

Apparently the ‘or Die’ crew has got their formula down, because it works well, and delivers you fantastic, and often exclusive content, in an easy to sort and understand manner.

Hear that YouTube?

…People love the ampersand?

The Ampersand

The Ampersand is an entire blog dedicated to “the most attractive punctuation mark of them all”.

Apparently this scribal abbreviation is more popular than I would have thought; because people have ampersand tattoos, take photographs of ampersands, document strange ampersand uses and appearances, and more.

I guess if it exists, someone probably has a blog about it…

…Mimoco is having a Graduation Sale?

Mimobot Graduation Sale

In honor of the impending graduation time, Mimoco is having a Mimobot Graduation Sale.

The collection of special sale characters include “some of our popular Halo Series MIMOBOT drives, Core Series 2, Artist Series and Happy Tree Friends”.

Each of the special sale characters is 25% off, and if you buy $100 or more worth of products, you’ll also receive a $10 gift certificate. Plus, for each $50 you spend beyond that, they’ll send you another $10 gift certificate.

The sale runs through 6/3, so head on over and make sure you order yours now before they’re all gone.

…It’s Movie Monday: Time Well Wasted?

Time Well Wasted

The “lay on the ground and film from above” style of video production is becoming more popular lately, and for good reason.

Maybe you’ve seen this concept used before and maybe you haven’t, but you definitely haven’t seen it used this exhaustively and to such a dynamic extent and with a shirtless Geeves. Filming took up the entire month and everyone involved pulled their shit together like when you’re driving home after a few drinks and (suddenly!) you end up face to face with an Officer of the Law at a roadblock or, perhaps, the scene of your accident.

Check out this intro for the snowboard movie “Time Well Wasted” that was created by Sandbox, and see why it was recently awarded “Best Video Opener” by Future Snowboard Magazine.

…Canouflage makes it easy to get drunk in public?

CanouflageCanouflage is probably one of the best (and funniest) ideas I’ve ever seen: Simply wrap your beer in a vinyl cover that looks like a popular soda brand, and then chug away at what appears to be a harmless 12 ouncer to the outside world.

Available “flavors” include Skunkpiss, Risk, Peski, and Mountain Spew, and they come in packs of four that are also reusable in case the thirty pack that you bought is going to need some extra hiding.

…It’s Things Thursday: Casio G-Shock?

Casio G-Shock

Despite (or perhaps because of) their ‘80s/retro style and unique look and functionality, Casio’s G-Shock watches continue to be popular among the hip and trendy.

Their latest series of limited edition watches, the G5500C series (aka Vivid Colors), features a unique solar technology which “combines a super sensitive solar panel with a high capacity rechargeable battery to power high-load functions”.

The solar technology also powers an auto light that illuminates the display automatically when the watch is angled towards the face (and only when available light is below a certain level).

There are three colors to choose from, and other features of the Vivid Colors series include shock resistance, 200M water resistance, World Time (48 cities), 4 Daily Alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm, Hourly Time Signal, Countdown timer, 1/100 Sec. Stopwatch, 12/14 Hr. Format, Battery Level Indicator, Power Save Function Tone and Button Tone Operation On/Off.

Get yours online and nationwide for just $120.

…Socialthing! will manage your online life?

Socialthing!

Socialthing! “is a digital life manager that puts what you do online into one place. See everything that’s going on with your friends in all the sites you use, post stuff to multiple places at once and more!”

Basically, it takes your online life and combines it into one easy to read, follow, and update page. Then, instead of checking each site individually to see new messages, updates, photos, etc., you can just check Socialthing! and see them all in one place. The goal is to make interacting across multiple sites as easy as interacting through just one.

Currently, Socialthing! supports del.icio.us, Digg, Facebook, Flickr, Last.fm, LiveJournal, Pownce, Twitter, Vimeo, and YouTube, with plans for more services as the company expands.

I’ve been beta testing the site for the past few days, and I think the service has some definite possibility. Unfortunately I ran into an issue with adding my Digg profile, but issues are to be expected with any beta release, and I’m sure they’ll have things running smoothly in no time. Everything else loaded without issue though, and I was impressed by the speed with which Socialthing! fetched my data.

Overall, I’d say it’s a useful tool that has the potential to become an indispensable one. Lifestreaming is quickly becoming more popular as everyone tries to manage their vast online world, and Socialthing! is one of the first sites out of the gate, which should give them a jump on adapting and changing to meet users needs with new features and functions.

They should be coming out of beta this weekend, so head on over and give it a try.

…Web apps have been charted?

Web App Charts

There’s Flickr and Dopplr, YouTube and DropSend; Zoho, Digg, YMail and Gmail; Facebook, Pandora, Mint and Twitter; and last but not least, there’s Last.fm, (oh, and don’t forget, Remember the Milk!)

They’ve all become a part of our daily online lives, but web based applications are a relatively new thing, which means they’re still vying for top spot on your bookmark list.

Thus, Carsonified set out to find out which are the most popular and successful web apps through a straw poll of over 3,000 votes from all over the world.

Which one made top spot?

…Grand Theft Auto is special?

Grand Theft Auto

Usually around the third or fourth iteration of a popular game, the designers decide that there are enough fans to warrant a special collector’s edition.

Though collector’s editions usually filled with a bunch of stuff that no one needs, they’re gobbled up by hard-core fans that want to raise their 1337 level by a few points at the next gaming get-together.

Apparently Grand Theft Auto has reached that point, because with the release of GTAIV coming up, they’ve announced a pre-orderable special edition that comes with a metal safety deposit box, special packaging, an art book with never-before-seen production artwork, a soundtrack CD filled with exclusive material, a Rockstar keychain, and a duffel bag to hold it all. Plus, order through Amazon, and you’ll even get a Liberty City license plate to round out the collection!

…Macs can be your alarm clock?

Mac Alarm Programs

For many, the Mac has become their alarm clock of choice, as it can provide the extra customization that your ZZZZ’s need.

To help you decide which of the popular alarm clock programs to pick, The Unofficial Apple Weblog has put together a Tabulator showdown between Alarm Clock, Alarm Clock Pro, Awaken, and Aurora to see which is the winner.

There’s not clear cut winner, so it’s up to you to decide, but whatever you go with, chances are you’ll sleep easier knowing that you’ll wake better as well.
