…The Grinch is ready to tow you?

Grinch

Distortion Boarding’s Grinch Winch and Snow Grinch are winch machines designed for wakeboarding, skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, and any other board sport where you need a little extra speed and momentum to pull off sick tricks.

With an adjustable hand throttle for varying the towing speed, a hydraulic brake for quick and easy stops, a rope friendly roller system that allows you to tow from almost any angle, and a 7 hp gas engine with 90:1 overdrive for top speeds of 25 to 30 MPH and deepwater starts, the Grinch is designed to be very user friendly.

With an adapter for a 2” receiver hitch on your vehicle, a tow kit for wheeling around, and the old school mounting method of just hammering the thing into the ground with stakes, the Winch is ready to go when and where you are, provided you can bring the necessary board skills to the table of course.

Just make sure your health insurance is in good shape before grabbing the rope, because this is one fun way to go down in a blaze of glory.

…It’s TGI Friday: Skating and snowboarding sail?

Skateboard And Snowboard Sail

With some tarp, a few feet of duct tape, clear plastic material from grandma, fiberglass shock chorded poles, and two feet of plastic tubing, you can build your very own hand held skating and snowboarding sail that folds up when you’re done using it for easy transportation.

Self propulsion is now officially out of style.

…Volcom wants you to kickflip a surfboard?

Kickflip-Off

If snowboarding is not your thing, then perhaps you can win some of Volcom’s cash during their Kickflip-Off contest.

Apparently, no one has ever documented a cleanly landed kickflip on a surfboard, so Volcom is going to give away $10,000 to the first person that can do it, and get it on video.

I, for one, would like to see it, so if you’ve got the surfing skills, then get out there and show your stuff, because kickflip glory awaits.

…Burton wants you to steal the slopes?

Sabotage StupidityIf you’re in Mad River Glen, VT, Deer Valley, UT, Alta, UT, or Taos, NM, you’re not allowed on the slopes unless you can separate your skis.

That’s because these four ski resorts are the last remaining holdouts in the battle against snowboarding, as they refuse to allow anyone but skiers to ride their lifts.

What’s a boarder to do?

Poach.

Burton is sponsoring a contest called Poach For Freedom (or Sabotage Stupidity, since I like both) in which they will pay a $5,000 bounty to the person or crew that can capture the best video of their poach experience at each of these four locations.

I love when a large company does or encourages something that they’re not supposed to, as it gives them a bit of personality that’s often lost in this overly corporate world (and I’m a snowboarder), so I hope that they get some great footage of teams tearing up these territorial terrains.

Board on.

…It’s Website Wednesday: Rip TV?

Rip TV

Rip TV is “an interactive broadband action sports TV network with an emphasis on Mountain Biking, Snowboarding, Skateboarding, Skiing, BMX, Surfing, MotoX, and more”.

With “exclusive programming, live-event coverage, and entertaining weekly shows”, as well as crazy crashes, treacherous tricks, cool contests, and gnarly news, it’s designed to fill all of your extreme sports needs in one place (and let you know about all of the sports that can kill you).

If that’s not good enough, then just keep in mind that Rip TV is still in Beta, so you can have that ‘there before the crowds’ feeling for a little wile longer.

…It’s Things Thursday: The Wave?

The Wave

The Wave is a two-wheeled board that lets you surf the streets. By combining the motions of surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding, The Wave has created a new extreme board sport called Street Surfing. Unlike skateboarding, you never have to step off of The Wave to push. Just move your feet back and forth, and The Wave creates motion. Having recently ridden ‘The Wave’, I can definitely say that it is a lot of fun, though starting and turning take some getting used to, and I still feel like there is a definite possibility of destroying an ankle when you fall off. Don’t let a little hospital trip prevent you from trying The Wave though, because soon you’ll be sitting on top of the world.
