The DYH iMix 04.07 is the first in a monthly series of iMixes that will feature unique music for you to download and enjoy. Each iMix will contain 10 songs, and is going to be a compilation of genres, ages, and popularity levels. The goal is to highlight new music that you haven’t heard of, and to provide you with a source of songs to add to your music collection. For the first month, the tracks are as follows:
Cat Stevens – Where Do The Children Play? – A classic from the man now known as Yusef Islam.
José González – Heartbeats – The song made famous by the Sony Bravia ad.
Michael Andrews & Gary Jules – Mad World – The song made famous by the Gears Of War ad.
Carrie Underwood – Before He Cheats – Hell hath no furry like a woman scorned.
Britney Spears – (You Drive Me) Crazy – Considering the recent Britney news, the irony of this song continues to grow on a daily basis.
MIMS – This Is Why I’m Hot – Takes every currently popular hip-hop niche and mixes them all into one catchy track.
John Mayer – Waiting On The World To Change – Feel good music with a message.
The Pack – Vans - A group of high school students from Berkeley California rapping about their shoes.
O.A.R. – The Was A Crazy Game Of Poker – A story song that makes you want to jump out of your chair and dance.
Brad Paisley – She’s Everything – A love song about the subtle things that make someone special.
Sounds good, right? I thought so too. Though I’m trying to do the work for you, I’m also open to suggestions, so if you think that you’ve found something iMix worthy, let me know. Rock out.
Backlash on the blogosphere is swift and brutal, and memories die hard. Sony’s fake blog alliwantforxmasisaPSP.com is currently taking the brunt of the beating, including this mock site, allIwantforxmasisaPS3.com. Enjoy.
Sony’s alliwantforxmasisapsp.com has been ousted by the blogosphere as being a fake. Sony was trying to create some viral advertising through a blog made by Peter, an invented hip-hop maven whose “speech was a little too funky fresh”. Forced to admit their wrongs, Sony came clean and promised to use the site to give nothing but the facts on the PSP in the future. Nice.
Sony Australia got a little jealous of Apple’s very creative Get A Mac advertising campaign, and decided to do a little spin-off of their own. Apparently, Sony feels that their Sony VAIO line should not be considered a PC, is definitely not a Mac, but instead, deserves its own category. Unless Sony plans to offer their own software, or do more than just put some pretty curtains up to cover the Windows though, I think their differentiation goes about as far as creating a few cute little ad rips and calling it a day. Maybe that’s their intended slogan: “I’m a PC, and I’m a Mac, and I’ve got no originality”.
As post-launch Playstation 3 console prices plummeted on eBay, sellers needed to find a way of differentiating themselves from the numerous other sellers pimping the results of their multiple day camping trips. Combine that with eBay’s requirement that each listing have a unique photograph of the item in the seller’s possession, including the User ID and a clear, readable copy of the sales receipt or other proof of purchase, and the stage was set for a skin off. The women of eBay gladly bared all for a sex sells style listing war, and though the results are less than convincing, nothing says gaming like a nice set of boobies (not included with the system of course).
A Wii fanboy has created his own commercial, and I must say that Sony needs to look at who they hired to do this spot if one man, a computer, and 80 hours of time can one up them so easily. Let A Hand Drawn Revolution please your eyes and Jars Of Clay’s Revolution please your ears, and soon you’ll be taken away to the land of Wii (it’s a very whimsical place).
The first commercial for Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 3 is out, and quite frankly, it sucks. Called “The Wait”, it tries oh so hard to dramatize the launch of their gaming system, but succeeds only in confusing and confounding us. Why are their children on the roofs of buildings? What are the giant shadow creatures? Are PlayStations going to start falling from the sky one day? Why is it going to cost over a grand to “wait” on eBay? All of these questions are left unanswered. I guess we’ll just have to “wait” and find out, but maybe that was the point all along. Wait…
Sony has taken up viral marketing with their new website for the yet to be released Playstation 3. Using what appear to be random symbols, you can decipher the related letters and then click out words that give you access to videos, wallpapers and soundtracks for a few of their upcoming games. Thankfully, if you don’t want to crack the code yourself, there’s a site that shows the cracked code along with a list of what you should spell with the given letters, and a site that is hosting the videos that are unlocked when you “win”. It’s definitely a cool (though very difficult) way of spreading the word about upcoming games.
