…Ken Block and Travis Pastrana can fly?

Racer X Magazine

Ken Block and Travis Pastrana look like they’re trying out for the next superman movie on this cover shoot for Racer X magazine.

The stunt involved Travis backflipping his MotoX bike over Block’s Subaru, and then fire was added in just for fun (and to keep things interesting).

When asked about the stunt, Block replied “Glad Travis didn’t hit his head on the top of my car, and at least I didn’t break my back this time.”

Nice.

…Travis Pastrana rocked the hydrojump?

Travis Pastrana Hydrojump

Apparently, when you’re Travis Pastrana, conquering regular sports just gets boring after a while, and you need to invent new and unique sports to conquer just to keep yourself busy.

Travis’ latest stunt, called the hydrojump, had him skimming his Suzuki dirtbike at 70 miles per hour for 110 feet in five-foot-deep water, and then launching off of a floating FMX ramp.

…TheBlackApp is coming?

The Black App

TheBlackApp is calling itself “The first iPhone consumer network”, and since “space is limited”, they encourage you to register in advance for a launch date of June 5. (They also assure you that, no, this is not a stunt.)

There are three different levels of TheBlackApp (Black, Gold, and Silver) and it looks like the benefits will depend on which level you are a part of, so sign up now to reserve your spot.

…Your news van is slow?

Two news vans arrived at the same local drag strip in El Paso, Texas at the same time to cover a death at the strip due to legal drag racing, and then proceeded to do the obvious thing: Race their fully loaded news vans against each other.

Thankfully, no one is getting fired because of this stunt (since I think it’s awesome) but “disciplinary” action will be taken.

Remember: If you’re going to race your news van against the rival’s news van, make sure you ask the crowd not to put the video up onto YouTube first.

…Horsesurfing looks like fun?

Horsesurfing

If you thought water slide stunting looked like fun, then check out Horsesurfing!

By pulling a wakeboarder through the shallows behind a horse, enough energy is built up to allow for some pretty sweet stunts.

…Ken Block can fly?

Ken Block

I am now officially jealous of Ken Block.

After getting to jump his rally prepped Subaru WRX 171 feet for a new world record, he got to jump it over 70 feet in the snow for the cover of Snowboarder magazine.

The stunt was performed at New Zealand’s Snow Park Record, and used a specially prepared 55-foot ramp to put him alongside some very brave snowboarders during the jump.

I just hope Space Jam’s “I Believe I can Fly” played over his stereo the entire time.

…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Formula Drift?

Formula Drift Logo

On Saturday, I had the chance to go and see Formula D’s “The Finals” at Irwindale Speedway (yes, I did get stuck on Interstate 5 on the way down from San Francisco due to that massive accident), and I must say, if you’re at all a fan of the four wheeled machine, make sure you check out one of Formula Drift’s events at a track near you.

Pontiac Solstice

If you’re not familiar with the sport, think of drifting as two automotive ballerinas battling it out in a boxing match. It’s gracefully controlled mayhem, and in my opinion, it’s easily the best form of four-wheeled entertainment on the planet.

…Ken Block jumped his Subaru over 100 feet?

Ken Block Subaru Jump

Fans of rally racing (myself included) usually watch the sport for two things: the jumps, and the gnarly crashes. Sure, the racing is all fine and dandy, but it’s the jumps and the crashes that keep people coming back. Ken Block, deciding to go big rather than going home, took the former to a new level for an upcoming episode of Discovery Channel’s Stunt Junkies, jumping his Monster Energy Subaru over 100 feet (probably much more, but he can’t divulge actual footage until after the episode airs, so take your best guess). Though it’s hard to imagine just how far that really is without actually being there, judging by the pictures, I’d say the man must be insane! Thankfully, Ken managed to keep it wheel side down while setting this new record, and is hopefully working on some way of back flipping the car for his next performance. Dukes, eat your hearts out. Rally car big-air at next year’s X Games anyone?
