…Wood gadgets are good for nothing?

If you liked the San Francisco toothpick tour, then check out this hand cranked machine made entirely out of wood and glue (no nails or screws).

The video takes you step by step through each one of the functions, and it’s impressive to think that you can build something like this with a lot of time and determination.

…It’s Things Thursday: Nookanooka?

Nookanooka

Nooka makes some pretty crazy watches, so it’s only fitting that they make a pretty crazy watch holder as well.

Called the Nookanooka, “their physiology is transient, eternal in their world, ephemeral yet immortal in ours – beyond imagination yet real enough to feel. Time is to them as carbohydrates are to us, and from this they poo carrots and kittens [or anything else you can request]. They pee gravity and what is the equivalent of light to them is dark matter in our universe”.

…You Suck At Photoshop has been interviewed?

You Suck At Photoshop

If you liked the You Suck At Photoshop series, then be sure to check out Time Magazine’s interview with co-creators Matt Bledsoe and Troy Hitch.

“It was meant to be a one-off thing,” said Hitch. “But two weeks later, we checked into YouTube and saw that it had 50,000 page views. We went to Rob and said, ‘Hey, we might take a sabbatical from Tim after Tim.’ ” They launched the second episode of Photoshop and within five days, it had 400,000 page views. Digg dug the site, BoingBoing boinged it, and LaughingSquid inked the deal. A star was born.

…Harry Winston’s Opus 8 is amazing?

Harry Winston Opus 8

As if mechanical-digital watches weren’t already cool enough, Harry Winston has created a watch that uses mechanical pixels to display the time at the push of a button, and called it the Opus 8.

Even the back features a second time display, with a power reserve indicator to tell you when your awesome is running low.

Only 50 were made, and apparently they all sold before the watch was even unveiled, so if you want one, then get the house on the market and start checking eBay, because these aren’t exactly going to be cheap.

…The iPod is better than the Zune?

iPod VS Zune

When Microsoft released the Zune, they had plenty of time to learn from Apple’s mistakes and eat the iPod’s lunch by designing a superior product that fixed any of the iPod’s faults; right?

Apparently not, as Crave’s Molly Wood shows (in great detail) with the five reasons her Zune is dead to her.

From poor software and music categorization to tangled headphones, worthless wireless, and the unforgivable “erase all of her server-stored music” feature, it’s a must read for anyone that’s thinking of breaking rank and going with the ‘soft’s player.

Hello, again, little iPod buddy.
