…America likes its presidents tall and fat?

The Measure Of A President

Ever wonder how a candidate’s stature effects his chance of getting into office?

To help evaluate that question, The New York Times put together a fantastic chart of the presidential candidate pairings to see if there are any trends, and found some interesting results.

According to the chart, taller (17 to 8) and heavier (18 to 8) candidates generally do better than their shorter and lighter counterparts.

It’s not an exact science, but it does show some interesting insight into what we see in a leader.

…Scooters can be customized?

Japanese Customized Scooters

Apparently the new trend in Japan is customized scooters that have been lowered, chromed, painted and tuned.

Since Japan brought us the rice rocket, could this be the next trend in vehicle modification?

…The digital dash was supposed to be the future?

12 Gauge

The ‘80s were definitely filled with their fare share of flair, and the automotive trend of installing digital gauges into new automobiles was no exception.

The victim of the desire to find uses for new technologies that were being developed, the digital gauge cluster might have looked flashy at the time, but now they just look silly and outdated.

Motive has put together a list of 12 fantastic examples, so if you’re ready for a trip down memory lane, then click the link and get ready for a digital revolution.

…Antler Rings look painful?

Anneke Van Bommel - Antler Rings

Continuing the trend of rings that can kill, Anneke Van Bommel’s Antler Rings “celebrate on of Canada’s most famous and iconic silhouettes.” The rings are available in either the Moose, Caribou, Elk, or Whitetail Deer variety, and are each hand cut and polished from sterling silver.

They’re a limited edition though, so if you want a set, be sure to get them while you can.

…Ice chewing is the next big trend?

Ever heard of ice chewing?

The Wall Street Journal sure has, and they’re trying to prove that they’re still ahead of the trend game by dedicating an entire article to it.

However, judging by what they uncovered, calling this an emerging trend may not be too far off target:

Stores are selling it, there’s a message board dedicated to it, and chewers are even beginning to trade tips.

Think you’re cool enough to join the club?

…Digg wants to show you the pics?

Digg Pics

When Digg added an Images category to the site, they also added a new program to their Digg Labs called Pics.

As images are submitted or Dugg, they move from the left to the right of the screen in columns by category.

Though, as with all Digg Labs products, it’s of limited use in terms of speeding up the Digg process, it does give an interesting look into the always changing, evolving, and updating world of Digg, as well as Digg trends in real time, so it’s definitely worth a look.

…Bicycles can go boom?

Boom Bike

Though it probably makes peddling a bit harder, these mobile sound systems put the party on wheels.

A new trend in Queens, bike stereos give those that are too young or can’t afford an auto a chance to rock out on the go, with car batteries powering thousands of watts of amps, subs, and speakers.

It might not look pretty, but it gets the job done.
