…It’s Website Wednesday: Moodstream

Moodstream

Moodstream is a fantastically powerful “brainstorming tool” from Getty Images that is “designed to help take you in inspiring, unexpected directions”.

By tweaking the sliders, you can choose between images, footage, audio, or just a stream of fresh ideas that will bring a whole new creative palette straight to you.

The concept is actually pretty interesting, and the end result is inspiring and interesting in an advanced screensaver sort of way, so it’s definitely worth a look.

…Nicholas White hates elevators?

Elevator

The New Yorker has a rather interesting article on the lives of elevators, called Up And Then Down.

Part of the story focuses on Nicholas White, a man who spent 41 hours trapped in an elevator after it came to an unexpected stop and decided to not start again:

What would you do?

…It’s Movie Monday: Mobile Desktop?

Starbucks

Sure, Starbucks brings Wi-Fi to the masses, but most people who use it are either on a laptop or an iPhone.

What would happen then if Starbucks and their semi-public Wi-Fi had existed a few years ago?

Improv Everywhere wanted to find out, and decided to take a few old desktops complete with CRT monitors down to the local Starbucks and set up shop.

It’s a pretty funny idea, and the results are unexpected, so check out the Mobile Desktop:

…FILE Magazine expects the unexpected?

Painter’s Thumb By Nawfal Nur

FILE Magazine is a collection of photographs that treat subjects in unexpected ways, creating new genres with alternate takes, odd angles, unconventional observations, and more, FILE isn’t Kodak, Vogue or ESPN, and it definitely isn’t a photoblog, photo challenge/contest, or group photo album. FILE is, however, a great place to go for inspiration, improvisation, and imagination. If you want to see the world through a different lens, check out what FILE has to offer, but be prepared for a perspective shift.
