AT&T is (finally) offering free WiFi to its iPhone and Blackberry customers, and with a few easy/clever modifications to your laptop’s browser, you can enjoy that free web access on the big screen as well.
You’ll still need an AT&T account to use the hack, since you have to log in with that account to activate the service, but that’s a small price to pay for the extra access.

AT&T will soon offer free Wi-Fi to all iPhone users at their more than 17,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in the U.S., including all Starbucks stores.
If you’d like to get in on that action, but don’t yet have an iPhone, then check out UNEASYsilence for a guide on how to use Firefox’s User Agent Switcher to trick hotspots into thinking you’re on an iPhone, and then granting you full access to their tubes of Internet.

With the launch of Vista, T-Mobile and the ‘Soft have partnered up to give away three months of free HotSpot service to anyone who upgrades. The free service relies on a pretty weak verification scheme to check for the upgrade though, so with a little easy hacking, you too can enjoy free wireless, courtesy of T-Mobile. Here’s what you need to do:
- Download Firefox (You should be using this anyways)
- Download the Firefox entension User Agent Switcher
- Restart Firefox and go to: Tools > User Agent Switcher > Options > Options…
- Click “User Agents” and then “Add”
- Fill out the window with following info:
Description: Internet Explorer 7 (Windows Vista)
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0)
App Name: Microsoft Internet Explorer
App Version: 4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0)
Platform: Win32
- Save, go to Tools > User Agent Switcher > Then click the newly added one.
- Browse over to http://hotspot.t-mobile.com/vista/ and you should be redirected to a trial sign-up page.
Note: This isn’t guaranteed to work (You may need to be using a Mac), but if it does, hooray for you!
