…Nike is now selling lobsters?

Nike Concepts Lobsters

These Nike SB/Concepts collaboration shoes are amazing!

Themed after the lobster, these Dunk Lows are done up in lobster red leather, table cloth pattern lining, and a rubber band around the toe.

To complete the theme, they even come in a lobster trap box with the size printed on the size as a number of pounds.

I’m agreeing with Kitsune Noir on this one: Even if it is a ridiculous idea, the execution is so well thought out that it actually works.

Available exclusively at Concepts.

…The Olympics have got sole?

Nike Sole Materials

Nike has designed an entire line of custom shoes for each sport in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

While that doesn’t seem like anything special, keep in mind that in addition to the usual sports like Track and Field and Basketball, sports like Gymnastics, Wushu, Kayaking, Wind Surfing, Taekwondo, Equestrian, and Fencing also need unique shoes to enhance the athlete’s abilities.

For a full rundown, check out NOTCOT for a look at both the shoes, and the unique sole materials that help each athlete perform at their peak.

…Death From Above looks amazing?

Death From Above

Phu! And SBTG’s line of “Death from Above” Nikes is going to be one hot shoe release.

With the Death Seeker AF1s battling the Phantom Mirage AM90s, each side is limited to just eight individually numbered pairs, and at $500 a piece, they’re not exactly cheap, but when features include “weathered fuselage as an armor and cloaked in an urban desert storm camouflage” and “armored with metallic olive drab, battle dressed in desert storm and accented in a venomous acid green chompers”, it just might be worth it.

Available March 30th from Royalefam Shop.

(Be sure to check out Phu!’s Vinyl Is The New Canvas for some fantastic behind the scenes shots of what goes into a pair of very custom kicks.)

…It’s Things Thursday: Lakai Recycled Program?

Lakai Recycled Program

If you’d like to go green in style, then check out the Lakai Recycled Program.

By “applying excess shoe materials that would otherwise be thrown away to selected styles each season”, Lakai is turning trash into unique pairs of kicks that are good looking and good for the environment.

In addition to the recycled materials (leather, suede, mesh) the Recycled Program shoes will also feature soles comprised of new gum rubber mixed with regrind rubber waste, reducing new material by up to 50%.

Another benefit of the program is that each shoe will have a unique look that is the result of whatever materials they happened to have around that day, so no two pairs will share the same material and/or color combinations.
