…MMORPGs have memorable events?

World Of Warcraft

The MMORPG world often takes on a life of it’s own, and as the rules are written to allow for the most realistic gameplay possible, users often find ways to bend those rules in order to gain an edge.

The result is events that should not have occurred were it not for the creativity, tenacity, and often deceitful nature of the players. Just like in real life, there are assassinations, heists, plagues and death.

MMOCrunch put together a list of the Top 5 Most Memorable Events in MMORPG History, and it’s a great look back at some of gaming’s most unique events.

…Photoshop skills can win you a Mac?

Mac Pro With Dual 30” Cindma Displays

Are you a Photoshop whiz who needs a new computer?

How about a new Mac Pro with dual 30” Cindma Displays?

Got your interest?

The check out Crestock’s Photoshop Contest 2007 for your chance to win, fame, fortune, and a whole lotta Mac.

There are four rounds in total, and each round’s prize is better than the last. There’s a pair of iPods for round one, a 13” MacBook for round two, a 15” MacBook Pro for round three, and the Mac Pro and Cinema Displays combo for round four.

Crestock Photoshop Contest Round One

For each round, Crestock will supply a set of source photos from their image library. Your entry must be based on one or several of those photos, though you can do with them what you like. The main requirement is that one or more of the source images can be recognized as a central part of your design. Then, there’s voting (40% public, 60% judges) and a winner is announced.

Want some help?

“The winning entry will have incredible visual impact and exhibit fantastic creativity and technical skill, perhaps also with a twist of humor. Amaze us or make us laugh – or both. It’s up to you and your skills, creativity and imagination, but whatever you do, don’t miss out on the action!”

Sounds like good advice to me.

…Nokia is not Apple?

Nokia Open

Though it may just be the beneficiary of good timing, I’d like to think that after the whole AdWords incident, there’s a little more behind Nokia’s Open campaign.

By playing off of the recent iPhone lockdown, Nokia has positioned itself as the open platform, encouraging the now abandoned application and widget designers to code for the Nokia wonder phone instead.

We’ll have to wait and see if it works, but at least you can applaud them for quick thinking and a bit of daring creativity.
