…Synchronicity needs your help?

Synchronicity

The Synchronicity Project is a simple yet beautiful idea to “Share the Time and Environment. Photos and Reports of the Globe at Glance.”

Created by Jun Tsuzuki, it’s supported by participants who find the project interesting, and is free to join if you fit that single criteria.

To participate, simply take a picture of where you are at and what you are up to, regardless of what that is, at a designated time.

The designated time is chosen by Jun, and has either a neat and euphonious look (Examp: 11:11:11 on 11/11) or a time during which a historical event took place (Examp: 9/11)

The designated time is also based on the GMT, so your specific time might not match up with the perfect time, but that’s actually the point. It’s supposed to be a portrait of the world at a single point in time, though not necessarily the “perfect” point in time.

If the project interests you, and you’d like to participate, then you’d better find a camera quick, because the next time is January 1st at 00:00:00 GMT (December 31st at 04:00:00PM on the West Coast, and 07:00:00PM on the East Coast if you’re in the US).

What will you be doing?

…You should do something for Blog Action Day?

Blog Action DayToday is Blog Action Day, which means that fifteen thousand blogs with a combined total of twelve million readers are going to be publishing posts about the environment.

Since I’m always down to support a good cause, I’m going to participate by giving you DYH’s Simple Rule To Live By: Do Something.

Being green doesn’t have to be a life changing decision. You don’t need to sell your car and buy a Prius; you don’t need to sell your Prius and buy a bike; and you certainly don’t need to recycle your bike and start walking everywhere; you just need to do something.

That’s because I believe that if everyone did something, then everything would change.

Why?

Because even small changes can make a difference.

Change a few light bulbs. Take a shorter shower. Recycle more. Drive less.

There are a million different things that you can do, so you just need to start doing them.

The key is to start small.

Soon, that single bulb will turn into a home full of CFLs, that shorter shower will turn into thousands of gallons of saved water, and that parked car will turn into a healthier you.

So just remember: Don’t try to change the world by yourself; just do something, and the world will follow.

…It’s TGI Friday: Energyville?

Energyville

Energyville is Chevron’s SimCity clone that it hopes to use to educate consumers about the different ways that different forms of energy affect us.

Taking into account economic, environmental, and security issues, you must build a city to the best of your ability and see how your choices affect the people as time goes on.

It’s definitely an interesting concept, and ought to be good for a few hours of fun as you lean a bit about the environment, so I’m going to call it a win-win.
