…Pretty Loaded saves you from content?

Pretty Loaded

Big Spaceship is in love with the preloader, and to share their love, has created an entire website dedicated to it called Pretty Loaded.

Once upon a time, in a land of sputtering dial-up connections, websites too ages to load. Folks yearned for the 100% mark. But as soon as that figure arrived, the beloved (or bemoaned) preloader disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again. Until now.

The “museum” is a collection of Flash loading screens that play one after another (technically, each preloader preloads the next preloader), and each one features the year it was made, the client it was made for, the name of the site it loaded, the creator of the preloader, and its category.

Despite being the thing that normally holds you back from your desired content, Pretty Loaded is actually rather addictive, as each preloader is obviously well thought out, and in most cases, an apparent outlet for the creativity of whoever was stifled by the site they had to build.

Plus, Big Spaceship promises to continue adding to the infinite loader, so you can check back occasionally to see the new ones.

…PETA doesn’t like Thanksgiving?

Cooking Mama

PETA never ceases to amaze me.

This year, in protest of Thanksgiving’s annual turkey slaughter, they took the Cooking Mama game and gave it an “unauthorized” twist, as Mama is now the ruthless killer of animals, and you must help her prepare, stuff and cook a bird while extra gore tries to distract you from the task at hand.

Surprisingly, the Flash game is well-done, and serves up a heaping serving of PETA propaganda as you play, though it’s all optional, and you can pick and choose what you want to learn more about, so they’re not jamming the message down your throat.

The turkey used in the game however…

…Mirror’s Edge 2D is amazing?

Mirror's Edge 2D

By now you’ve probably heard of Mirror’s Edge, the free running/parkour game that is soon to debut for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

However, if you’d like to get in on the action a little early, then check out Mirror’s Edge 2D from Borne Games.

Made by the same people that created the Fancy Pants Adventure, Mirror’s Edge 2D is a free flowing Flash game that closely mirrors the gameplay style of Mirror’s Edge, only in 2D.

The goal is to run, jump, climb and slide your way through the level in a quick but creative way, collecting points and other goodies along the way.

Right now the game is still only in Beta, so you only get one level, and there still might be the occasional bug or two, but there’s definitely promise here, and it’s still fun to play as is, so head on over and give free running a chance.

…It’s TGI Friday: Where’s An Egg?

Where's An Egg?

Where’s An Egg? has Russian instructions, 1970s graphics, and is surprisingly fun considering those two don’t often combine for much good.

In this hard-boiled adventure game, you must help the Boise police find a missing egg. Not in Mancuso’s garage? Try Brodermaker’s gymbag. Everyone’s a suspect when “Where’s an Egg?” is the game that you are playing. And that’s the game!!

NOTCOT called it her favorite Flash game ever, and it’s definitely one of the most unique, so give it a shot and see how you do.

…It’s TGI Friday: Minesweeper Flash?

Minesweeper Flash

Happy Halloween everybody! Since Trick-Or-Treating isn’t for everyone, here’s a great game to play this weekend: Minesweeper Flash.

Minesweeper is the default time waster for anyone with a Windows computer and a few hours to kill, but with the addition of Flash, it’s a whole new game.

Thankfully, the gameplay itself is still the same, since it’s a classic for a reason, but with all new visuals, and as close to a storyline as Minesweeper is ever going to get (Edit: Actually, I take that back. THIS is the closest that Minesweeper is ever going to get to a storyline.), Minesweeper Flash gives the old dog new tricks, and you’ll be playing like a 16-year-old front desk clerk again in no time.
