…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Hamann LP640?

Hamann LP640 Front

Hamann LP640 Back

Hamann, a company known for firing up Ferraris and pimping out Porsches, turned its tuning eye towards the Lamborghini LP640 recently, giving the bull quite a bit more brawn with a slew of visual enhancements. The aero upgrades include a front spoiler, rear wing, side sills, a roof-mounted intake, and covers for both the lower and upper intakes. Though available in fiberglass, I suggest the carbon fiber option for true sinister status. In addition to the looks, Hamann also adds a sport exhaust kit with coffee can tips to give some bark to the bite. Finally, “Edition Race” wheels round out the package, finishing off this “Stealth-Bomber on four wheels”.

…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Hennessey SRT600?

SRT600

This might look like an ordinary Jeep Grand Cherokee, but with a uniquely located turbo (underneath the transmission) courtesy of John Hennessey, it’s now a Super Cherokee. Though Hennessey was just featured on DYH’s Tuner Tuesday for his 1000hp Viper, it’s hard to not give him a repeat showing with vehicles like this. The $27,900 SRT600 package turns an already powerful 420hp V8 into a ridiculously powerful 620hp monster, complete with a two year warranty. Seeing as the Jeep already pulls a .9 on the skidpad, has four wheel drive, and comes with all of the luxury any SUV owner could desire, Hennessey kept things simple and focused on the engine. Upgrades include:

  • Forged Pistons (9.5:1 compression ratio)
  • Forged Steel Connecting Rods
  • Ported & Polished Cylinder Heads
  • Balanced & Blueprinted Assembly
  • Single Turbocharger
  • Stainless Steel Turbo Headers
  • Single 44 mm Wastegate
  • Stainless Steel Dual 3 in. Exhaust System with Polished 4 in. Stainless Steel Exhaust Tips
  • Front Mounted Air-to-Air Intercooler
  • 3.5 in. Polished Inlet Tube with Blow-Off Valve
  • Upgraded Fuel Pump & Fuel System

So what does all that give you? How about:

  • 0 – 60 mph: 3.5 seconds
  • 0 – 100 mph: 8.9 seconds
  • 1/4 mile: 11.9 seconds @ 116 mph

Just to put that in perspective, your Hennessey powered grocery getter will now beat a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S in the quarter by more than a second. But the Cayenne is just another SUV, what about cars? Glad you asked. The SRT600 will also win in a quarter mile drag if you go against any of the BMW M cars, all of the Mercedes AMG cars except for the SL65, the Audi S6, the Corvette, the Porsche 911 S, and even the Lamborghini Gallardo. The only cars that manage to best the beast are the 911 Turbo and the Corvette Z06, though they only manage to do it by a half of a second (and their trunks are just about big enough for a pair of swim trunks).

Fast is good.

…It’s Movie Monday: Mission Zero?

Mission Zero

What’s better than Uma Thurman driving a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder like she stole it in order to escape from some baddies in a B-body supercharged Mopar? Nothing. “Mission Zero”, the latest advertising/promotional effort from Pirelli, is filled with enough action to keep you entertained, and enough tire smoke to remind you that this is, after all, just one big tire commercial.

…Neil Duerden likes colors?

Royal Magazine

Lamborghini

Neil Duerden, a self confessed mac monkey, makes amazing pieces that “combine elements from mixed media, photography that are interlaced with complex vectors to create pieces that always hit the brief”. He’s based out of the UK, so his sales pitch might not translate quite right, but he does speak the universal language of beauty, using bright, vibrant colors and sharp, contrasting designs to create work that jumps off the page. If only all advertising was so interesting.

…It’s Movie Monday: Redline?

Redline Poster

Porsche Carrera GT Wreck

They could take out all of the actors and just have a bunch of cars driving around and I still think I’d want to go see Redline. Described as The Fast and The Furious for exotics, this Daniel Sadek creation is a who’s who of the supercar world, including Ferrari, Saleen, Koenigsegg, Ford, Lamborghini, Mercedes, McLaren, and Porsche. Though I’m sure the acting by such greats as Eddie Griffin, Nathan Phillips and Nadia Bjorlin will be nothing short of Oscar worthy, it’s all about the car porn anyways. Plus, they even manage to wreck a perfectly good Porsche Carrera GT at some point in the plot line. Set for a February 23rd release date, this is going to be the car movie of 2007. Fear Nothing, Risk Everything.
