…iTunes makes you the world’s best DJ?

iTunes DJ

The iTunes 8.1 update includes a new feature that I think has gone unjustly unnoticed: The new iTunes DJ. Now, in addition to acting as the world’s cheapest Sonos, the iPhone and iTunes combo can help turn you into the world’s best DJ.

The iTunes DJ playlist builder, which is designed to keep the music flowing at any party, allows you to collaboratively build a playlist with any of your friends that have an iPhone and the Remote app installed. With the app, they can log into the iTunes DJ playlist builder, view your library, suggest songs that should be added to the playlist, vote on upcoming songs, and generally help match the music to the mood of a party.

It’s easy to set up, with just a few check boxes and a welcome screen to enable, and once you’re up and running, the music you play will always be what a majority of the party-goers want to hear. (Hopefully…)

How cool is that?

…It’s Things Thursday: CelebriDucks?

CelebriDucks

CelebriDucks are rubber ducks that have been modeled after the duck-ized icons of film, music, athletics and history. From celebrities and famous figures to mascots, athletes, heros and more, over 200 different CelebriDucks have been created, and no one is immune to duck-itization.

Each limited edition duck comes in its own container, and can be kept as a collector’s item or floated in the bath for a little extra fun.

…It’s Website Wednesday: PixelJam?

PixelJam

PixelJam makes all kinds of crazy 8-bit goodness, including games like RatMaze, where you must hunt down various types of tasty cheese as a pixelated mouse, Gamma Bros, where you help the 21hard-working duo of Buzz and Zap get home in an award winning space shooter, and Dino Run, a multiplayer game where you must run, jump and claw your way to survival.

They also host a rather cool collection of 8-bit art, let you download their original 8-bit music, and have a shop if you’d like to sport some 8-bit gear.

Plus, Format Mag has a nice little interview with the creators if you’d like to read about what inspires their pixelated creations.

…It’s Movie Monday: Mankind Is No Island?

Mankind Is No Island

Tropfest is the world’s largest short film festival.

Founded at Sydney’s Tropicana café in 1993, it now has an attendance of over 150,000 in Australia each February, and thousands more in other cities through out the world at other local Tropfests.

This year, the $20,000 first prize at the Tropfest in New York went to a film called “Mankind Is No Island” which was shot entirely with a cell phone camera.

The music is perfect, the effect is simple yet powerful, and the end result is a very emotional film that challenges the way we look at the world.

…The Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker lets you live your dreams?

Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker

Forget air guitar and rock out for real with the Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker, a belt buckle that plays music out of the included amplifier when you strum a pick over it.

The Air Guitar Rocker comes with 10 “signature riffs to jam to”, or you can pick up the Heavy Metal or 80’s Rock Encore Packs to keep the party going with new tunes and more riffs.

It might not make you any better at the real guitar, but who said having a skill was any fun anyways?
