…Super Mario knows how to play chess?

Super Mario Chess

Though Super Mario didn’t arrive until more than 500 years after the invention of chess, the union of the two still seems like destiny.

The Super Mario chess set from USAopoly lets you battle for control of the Mushroom Kingdom with 32 hand-painted playing pieces, including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, Goombas, and more.

…Bowser’s minions are not happy?

Bowser\'s Minions

Any Super Mario fan will definitely appreciate the humor in Bowser’s Minions.

For me, the sounds and the long lost characters brought back flashbacks of childhood gaming, and I loved the idea of Mario’s enemies grouping together and revolting against the restrictions placed upon them by Bowser/Nintendo to keep the game playable.

Definitely another CollegeHumor classic.

…Super Mario Fusion is amazing?

Super Mario

Super Mario Fusion might be the best Mario to date.

Created by a fan, it will feature guest characters, widely varied worlds, and a completely new weapon system in addition to the standard Mario weapons (shell, fireball, etc.).

To quote the creator: “Think of this game as Mushroom Kingdom Hearts of sorts.”

Planed worlds include Sonic, Megaman, Castlevania, Halo, SHMUPS, Nintendo, and more, and each one will be unique.

For an idea of the end result, check out this video of the Halo level:

Very cool.

…Paper Mario World lets you play the plumber?

Paper Mario World

Paper Mario World is an impressively thorough Flash game.

Though it’s only one world, the graphics, music, and controls are all true to Mario form, and it’s got plenty of side scrolling action for the fans. Plus, there are even secrets and bosses to round it all out, so get ready to once again smash and bash your way through a land of Goombas and Doombas.
