…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Bowler Off-Road Nemesis GT4?

Bowler Off-Road Nemesis

Sure, it shares a grill with Land Rover, but that’s where the similarities end between the Bowler Off-road Nemesis GT4 and its British born brethren.

Designed to be a ‘road-going’ version of their Dakar-ready racer,

‘It’s going to be as close as we can get to the rally car,’ said Rob Critchlow, Bowler’s international sales manager.

‘It’s never going to be a luxury car – it’ll be a sport-derived sports car but with climate control and leather bucket seats from Recaro. And it’ll be stormingly fast.’

It better be!

Specs include a supercharged, 4.2-litre Jaguar V8 making in excess of 500 horsepower, a ‘slightly’ tuned-down suspension (when compared to their full racer), four sets of sports seats, an advanced tubular space frame, fuel cell, and climate control to keep the desert heat at bay.

Want your own Dakar-ready racer?

Better hurry: Bowler only intends to make 50 per year, and with a price tag expected to be in the region of $190,000, you’ll probably want to live somewhere in or around the UAE before opening up the checkbook and considering a purchase like this, since it’s not a like you’ll want to plow this thing through Los Angeles traffic on a daily basis…

Over, maybe; but through, definitely not.

…It’s Tuner Tuesday: Lotus Concept Ice Vehicle?

Lotus Concept Ice Vehicle

The Moon-Regan Trans Antarctic Expedition plans to cross the icy continent using state-of-the-art bio-fuelled vehicles and cutting-edge communications equipment to raise awareness of how Antarctica’s fate affects the whole environment.

One of those bio-fuelled vehicles is this Lotus Concept Ice Vehicle, or CIV, which will act as a pilot for the two heavier Science Support Vehicles that will also be making the journey.

With a bio-fueled, supercharged BMW 1150 engine driving the propeller to a top speed of 84 mph, trike skids that bring the overall size to a rather svelte 4.5 meters long and 4.5 meters wide, as well as independent suspension all around, it’s got plenty of go to get them there. Plus, with ice penetrating radar to detect any crevasses, a spiked foot for emergency stops on the edge of any detected crevasse, and weight so low (360kg) that a single person can pull it across the ice, it’s got plenty to get them back as well.

Now if only they rented this thing out at the local skating rink…

…Saleen’s S5S Raptor looks sinister?

Saleen S5S Raptor

Saleen sure does know how to build ‘em right (he was, after all, the man that managed to make the Saleen S7 a reality) so the prospect of a second supercar form the American manufacturer does get me a little giddy on the inside.

Specs include a supercharged 5.0L V8 producing 650 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque, the ability to run on cellulosic ethanol, 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, 6-speed manual with an optional paddle shifted sequential gearbox, aluminum chassis, and a top speed of over 200 mph.

So what does eternal fastitude like this cost you?

If it makes it to market, just $185,000.

(And yes, in case you were wondering, I did bring you a sneak peak of this car back in November, so never let it be said that DYH doesn’t bring the latest and greatest to the table.)

…Your G55 is slow?

Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG SLR McLaren

On the outside, it might look like any other Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG, but open the hood and it’s anything but, because this beast is powered by the 720 hp 5.5L supercharged V8 out of an SLR McLaren.

0 to 60 in just 4.2 seconds while driving a toaster?

Yes please.
