…Todd Duym is a magical weaver?

Todd M. Duym Rose

Todd M. Duym’s art involves the weaving together of two identical photos, and though that sounds like a rather crazy idea, the end result is impressive:

Even more impressive is the process that he goes through to create each piece, and since it’s hard to imagine what 20 hours of work looks like, this time-lapse video should help:

…The clouds glow at night under airplanes?

Glowing Night Video

On a recent flight from Amsterdam to San Francisco, Flickr user Ettubrute noticed that the night lights from the cities were flowing beneath the clouds and making them glow in a spectacular and ethereal way: “It was really seeing the impact of urban environments from a different perspective.”

To capture and share this experience, he set up an improvised stabilizer mound out of bags, pillows and blankets for the camera to sit on, and took about three hours of photographs that he condensed into about a minute of time lapse video.

…Delta is giving their planes new colors?

Delta 747-400

When Delta Air Lines bought Northwest Airlines for $2.6 billion, it acquired 436 planes, including Airbus A330s, DC-9s, and 16 Boeing 747-400s, making it one of the only domestic airlines to fly the jumbo jet.

The only problem: All of them were painted in NWA colors. (Or livery as they call it in the airline industry.)

To fix that problem, Delta will spend more than two years painting more than 40,000 gallons of paint on their new birds, but it’s hard to picture what a 12 day paint job looks like on a plane the size of a football field, so Delta has put together a time-lapse video of the whole process that cuts it down to just three minutes:

What interesting is that at time-lapse speed, the painters on cherry pickers look like the arms of a robot, and the whole process becomes a well choreographed dance that makes it look easy.

…Eric Solheim captured One Year in 40 Seconds?

Four Seasons

Eric Solheim snapped images and captured audio from the same spot outside of his house for an entire year, and then stitched them together into a fantastic time-lapse video called One Year In 40 Seconds:

In addition to the video, Eric also documented his entire process, including the story, the camera, the settings, the software, the techniques and more, and posted it all on his blog, along with every source file that he created under a creative commons license so that you can take his work and experiment with it as well to see what you can come up with.

…Peugeot can quickly turn a 307 into a monster?

307 WRC

You’ve seen the Subaru Team assemble a WRX STI into a rally-ready machine in just a few minutes, but for some reason, these time-lapse rally racer assembly videos never get old.

Here, we see the Peugeot team take their 307 from zero to hero in a little under four minutes as they get it ready for Marcus Gronholm and Timo Rautiainen to abuse it to victory during the 2004 WRC race in Finland:
